Yaz stroke is ischemic in nature (as opposed to hemorrhagic). It is defined by the death of nerve cells within your brain and thus, represents a medical emergency. If treatment is delayed, the aftereffects, including vision impairment, loss of balance, and paralysis, can become permanent.

The event is often caused by blood clots that form within the deep veins of your legs, arms, or pelvis. The clots can break loose and travel with your blood (becoming emboli) as it flows toward your heart. If an embolus leaves your heart's left ventricle, it can move through your aorta into an internal carotid artery. If it forms a blockage in the artery, it can prevent an area of your brain from receiving blood, oxygen, and nutrients. Starved of these essentials, the brain cells will begin dying. You will experience a Yaz stroke.

Treatment for Yaz stroke problems is administered in stages. The medical response team will first work to normalize your breathing and heart rate. In the event your blood pressure has dropped, doctors will work to stabilize it. Below, we'll explore the use of medications, surgery, and alternative treatment paths for minimizing the side effects of Yaz stroke.

Drug Therapy For Yaz Stroke

Medications that are used to control the effects of ischemic stroke can be categorized into two groups: those that prevent further clotting and those that dissolve existing clots.

The first group includes antiplatelets and anticoagulant drugs. The former inhibits the platelets in your blood from clumping together, thereby reducing clotting. The latter prevents the proteins in your blood from becoming activated. That hampers the production of fibrin, an important clotting agent.

The challenge is that thrombolytics must be administered within three hours of the first symptoms. It is during this initial period when the chances of limiting the damage caused by Yaz stroke are greatest.

Surgery To Remove Yaz Blood Clots

After a stroke has finished its cycle and become stable, a surgeon can elect to perform carotid endarterectomy to remove any offending blood clots. However, the procedure is only done if certain qualifications are met. For example, the carotid artery should be narrowed by 70% or more, and the patient should be expected to live for at least five years.

One of the benefits of carotid endarterectomy is that it reduces the likelihood you'll suffer another ischemic stroke. However, the operation is potentially dangerous. The surgeon may accidentally dislodge other blood clots, which can migrate and form another blockage in the carotid artery.

Alternative Treatment For Yaz Stroke

If surgery is considered too hazardous, your doctor may suggest placing a stent within the affected artery. The stent is similar to that which is placed in the vena cava in order to prevent Yaz pulmonary embolism. It is a wire mesh that can catch emboli before they reach sensitive areas near your brain.

Given that ischemic stroke can be caused by Yaz blood clots, it is surprising that many women who are using this oral contraceptive are unaware of the danger.
